Where can I take him for his 40th on a budget?

Posted by Hayden Allen-Vercoe on Fri 26th January 2007 at 04:49 AM, Filed in Romantic Breaks

I’m 26, he’s going to be a young 40. We’ve been together six and a half years, but because we’re getting married in August 2007 the budget’s tight and I can’t really be spending that much for his actual birthday, but I want to do something really special .... We both like eating out and films, looking round different places when we go away on holiday ... both like holidaying. We’re based in Bristol and his birthday’s on monday 8th January .... you’re probably going to need more details ... I just need help!!!

Please & Thank you.

Hi There

Thanks for your email regarding where to take your fella for his 40th. Sounds like you both have a cool sense of adventure as well as a love of getting away. Therefore I have a real treat for you, bearing in mind your budget is limited I have found these places that are really not that far from you that I’d suggest you go to. I’m suggesting a romantic night away, very cost effective and a chance to spend the night somewhere really quite amazing. Check out the following:

Owned by James Blunt’s parents this place is magic. £70 for a night but a fair distance for you to travel.

This is a gorgeous South Devonshire pad, fantastic all year round and very reasonable for a B & B at £35 per night - loads to do and explore.

If you can get down to St Ives then I really recommend this place. Simply Stunning all year round. This B & B is very cool with magnificent views. Works out around £45 per night.

A truly original break - in a traditional gypsy caravanne. It’s in Dorset so a little way, but could be really cosy! Not sure on prices.

Ever dreamt of staying in a real castle? This place is just amazing and really romantic. It’s north of you in Shropshire but deffo worth a visit. Little more expensive at £45 per person per night.

Hope this helps. Have a fantastic time whatever you choose to do.
