Keep blind dates short and sweet!

Are you up for blind dates?
Well if so just be prepared that you have no idea who you meeting and they could be entirely wrong for you… in fact it’s more than likely they are.

Therefore do yourself a favor and make the first date very short… In fact just enough time for a coffee. This has 2 advantages – firstly, they won’t feel difficult if they don’t like you and obviously vice versa. By making it short there is far less pressure on both of you.
Also by making it brief and ‘cheap’ there is little pressure when it comes to paying the bill, a couple of coffees will set you back a couple of quid so not really a stress! It’ll take you just 20 seconds to work out if you like them and vice versa.
Ideas on venue
Choose somewhere quiet but with a bit of atmosphere. Try to avoid any where you know either yours or their friends are likely to be – you need to have at least 10 minutes quality time remember so choose somewhere you won’t be bothered.
Ideas on the conversation
If you like them or they like you the body language will tell all. But try to relax and find out a little more about them – keep away from heavy topics and just skim over the easy stuff like ‘Where do they go out’, ‘what music they like’ etc…. Never get drawn into a conversation about politics or any other crap like that. Don’t try and dominate the situation – try and listen more than talk…
Basic etiquette
Remember all those manners your mum and dad taught you…? Well use them here! Turn off your mobile, pull out the chair for them if they are a lady, stand up to greet them, never swear… you know the drill! You’ll make a lasting impression.
Finally
Make up your mind about your date straight afterwards. If you are going to follow it up then be sure to do so sooner rather than later. Get a message back to them either by the person who set you up OR by dropping them a casual email saying something like ‘fancy another coffee?’. Never be talked into liking them by the mediator just because they think you go well together. If there’s no spark then the fire aint gonna start!
